Kochi: A major blaze at an electrical substation on Friday has caused a prolonged power outage leading to shutdown of London’s Heathrow Airport, media reports said.
This has led to crowding of stranded passengers at airport, hotels and other places due to
disruption of air travel across the globe.
The airport management has warned passengers against travelling to the airport until further notice.Heathrow announced that it
no idea on the restoration of power.Heathrow is Europe’s busiest airport and a major hub for international travel.
The electrical sub station is around two miles from the airport.
The fire has caused significant damage to power lines.
At least 1,350 flights were scheduled to take off or land at Heathrow.
