Kochi: Senior CPM leader and former Minister G Sudhakara, 75, bade adieu to the Left front due to insults inflicted by CPM state chief M V Govindan among others.
Sudhakaran’s decision comes amidst the party not making him a candidate in the Assembly election.
Sudhakaran had been facing neglect by the party for the last five years after serving as a Minister in the government.
Sudhakaran had made it public that many lower rung leaders had slighted him on many occasions.
In a facebook post, Sudhakaran said felt more insulted when Govardhan mocked him during a press conference.
He lamented that no one has questioned the matter or tried to correct it.
Under such circumstances his continuation in the party would cause difficulty to such leaders, he said.
He said he has not sought renewal of his membership expiring in2026.
He lost his seat in the party’s state committee in 2022.
He is a member of Alappuzha district committee.
Sudhakaran, who is associated with the party for 63 years, was sidelined for his support for late Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan who was in loggerheads with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
