Kochi: Kerala High Court has rejected the plea of actor Siddique seeking anticipatory bail in a rape case.More detail for rejecting the actor’s plea is not available.Siddique was booked under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) based on a complaint of an actress.
Contradicting the allegations, Siddique accused the actress of subjecting him to the “prolonged campaign of harassment and false accusations since 2019”.Siddique claimed that the actress had repeatedly made unsubstantiated and false claims of sexual misbehavior and ‘verbal sexual offers’ in the past few years.
Cases have been registered against many Malayalam film personalities based on complaints of other actors in the wake of publication of a report of Justice K Hema Committee which was constituted after the 2017 actress assault case in which actor Dileep is an accused. The Kerala government set up a special investigation team to probe the cases.
