Kochi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan continued to stand firm against the LDF government’s intervention in university matters.
Khan said that he would not allow the government to make any illegal appointments in universities in the state.
The Governor said that he was not a rubber stamp and that he would not allow the state government to fiddle with the autonomy of the universities in the state.
The Governor said he would not allow appointments of the relatives of the Chief MInister and his ministers in the universities.
He said he could not overlook attempts by the government to break laws governing the universities.
The government in a democratic set up had the power to pass bills in the assembly, but it was the Governor who cleared them, he said in a veiled warning to the government.
