“Political stalemate in Iran”

Kochi: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken de facto control over key areas of governance in the country sidelining political dispensation, Indian Express reported quoting Iran International.
The country is witnessing “complete political stalemate” due to mounting friction between President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration and Iran’s military establishment, Iran International said.
The IRGC has obstructed several presidential decisions, including key appointments and has tightened its grip around the central power structure.
There are allegations of discontent in the inner circle of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei leading to a crisis in governance.
There are reports of IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi thwarting Pezeshkian’s move to appoint a new intelligence minister.
Uncertainty over the whereabouts of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in recent weeks appears to have further complicated the process.
The report stated that a council of senior IRGC officials now dominates core decision-making.
