Kochi: A court in Thalassery in Kerala sent nine RSS-BJP activists to Rigorous Life Imprisonment on Tuesday for the murder of Democratic Youth Federation of India activist Rijith (26), media reports said.
The Thalassery Additional Sessions Court (III) in Kannur district also imposed a fine of ₹1.10 lakh on the convicted individuals.
One of the accused, Ajesh, died in a car accident during the trial.
Rijith was hacked to death on October 3, 2005, in a politically motivated assault
at Chunda Thachankandiyal temple, allegedly over a dispute in connection with the opening of an RSS branch at a nearby temple.
