Kochi: Unprecedented security arrangements for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan caused immense inconvenience to the people as traffic was held up for hours in Kottayam.
Pinarayi’s visit to the little town with poor infrastructure added to the woes of the people due to long hours of traffic blocks.
All the roads leading to the town came to a standstill due to the curbs imposed by the police.
Despite strong restrictions, BJP and Congress managed to show black flag to Pinarayi. Two Yuva morcha activists were detained for showing black flag at Pinarayi.
There were reports of police asking people to remove black masks near Nattakam guest house.
Pinarayi travelled under heavy security cover while traveling to Kottayam.
The police built a wall of security near the Kottayam District Hospital in front of which the function was held.
It caused huge problems to patients visiting the district hospital.
Pinarayi was in Kottayam to take part in the kgoa meet.
IG Harshita Attaluri was incharge of security arrangements.Cranes were used to remove vehicles parked on roadside.
Tough restrictions were imposed on media persons covering the event.
