Kochi: A railway ticket checker has landed in jail for allegedly molesting a woman on a train in Kerala.
The TTE was arrested at Kottayam railway station yesterday for allegedly misbehaving with a woman traveling from Nilambur to Kochuveli in Thiruvananthapuram, media reports said.
According to the reports, the accused came and sat near the woman when the
Nilambur-Kochuveli Rajya Rani Express was about to reach Ernakulam Town station after midnight.
The victim had an RAC ticket and was having only a sitting facility in the reserved compartment.
The accused took her hand in his and pressed it despite the woman objecting to it, the reports said.
She alerted the Railway control room in Thiruvananthapuram by which time the train had left Ernakulam Town. The Railway police detained the accused when the train reached Kottayam railway station when the train reached Kottayam at about 2.30 am.
Based on the complaint of the woman, the 35-year-old accused was taken into custody.
A medical examination conducted on him showed that he was intoxicated.
The accused was produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody.
