CPM leader slams party style

Kochi: In a daring rhetoric, former Minister G Sudhakaran of CPM made a veiled attack on the party’s style of functioning, media reports said.

The party should win the confidence of those outside the party to succeed in elections, Sudhakaran said at a book release function in Alappuzha.

The party cannot win elections only with the votes of party members. It may be possible in some places like Kannur, but it will not work in Alappuzha, he said.

Bashing others is not the definition of revolution. The party has grown and reached the present position only by taking everyone with it, he said.

Sudhakaran, who was denied ticket for crossing 70 years, was accused of hampering the party’s winnability chances at Ambalappuzha in 2021 Assembly polls.

A party panel said that Sudhakaran did not help LDF to win the seat and was publicly reprimanded for it. Ironically the party won polls in 2021.

Sudhakaran, who worked hard for the central government backed Rs 173 crore super specialty block in the Alappuzha Medical College, was kept out of the inauguration function in June this year, the reports said.
