Kochi: A court in North Kerala today rejected the anticipatory bail plea of CPM leader P P Divya in a criminal case related to the suicide of Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu a few days back.
The verdict of the court in Thalassery in Kannur district has put the ruling CPM government in a tight spot at a time when the state is witnessing two assembly byelections and a Lok Sabha seat.
Divya, former president of Kannur District Panchayat, was booked for abetting the suicide of Naveen Babu who was falsely accused by her for engaging in corruption.
Navin was found dead at his residence the next day of his farewell ceremony during which Divya had levelled allegations against him. Divya had attended the function without being invited.
