Kochi: Filmmaker P Balachandra Kumar, who was a key witness in the actress assault case of 2017 in Kerala, passed away due to ailments at Chengannur in Kerala on Friday.
Kumar, who was undergoing treatment for kidney ailments, passed away at a private hospital.
The statement issued by him in the controversial case in which actor Dileep is an accused, led the police to investigate it further.
Balachandrakumar had claimed that he was a witness to Dileep watching video footage of the attack on the actress in the actor’s house.
He alleged that he had met Pulsar Suni, one of the key suspects, at Dileep’s house some days before the assault in 2017.
Dileep was jailed for nearly three months in the case. The actor is on bail.
