Kochi: Actor Dulquer Salmaan reached here amid the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducting probe at his residence in connection with the Bhutan car smuggling case, media reports said.
The actor is likely to appear in front of the Customs department in connection with the case.
Dulquer did not respond to the media at the Cochin International Airport. The ED has conducted raids at the houses of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amith Chakalakkal as well.
The ED raided 17 places, including Dulquer’s father and actor Mammootty’s residence, the reports said.
The ED is also conducting raids at the residences of vehicle dealers across five districts in the state.
The investigation agencies are probing a syndicate allegedly smuggling luxury cars into India through the Bhutan-Nepal route.
Preliminary investigations have found that a racket based out of Coimbatore used forged documents for the cars with fake RTO registrations from states such as Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh among others and sold the vehicles to those including actors cheaply.
