Kochi: Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.
Jinping, who had last visited India in 2019, is expected to meet for bilateral talks on the sidelines of the summit in New Delhi.
A large delegation will be accompanied by Xi including Politburo member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, the Hindu reported.
India wants dilution of export controls while China is looking for further relaxation of investment restrictions by India.
In April 2020 border tensions ended in a clash at Galwan Valley in June that marked the worst violence along the disputed border in many years, bringing a four-year freeze in relations.
Both sides have successfully worked for normalisation in relations following a meeting between Modi and Xi in October 2024 during the BRICS summit in Kazan. The two last met at the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, in August last year.
India’s exports to China have also registered strong growth, up by 37.2 to $12.31 billion. India exports Printed Circuit Boards which India once used to import in bulk from China.
