Kochi: The Kerala High Court has granted more time for the crime branch to complete the investigation into the actor assault case of 2017.
As the prosecution had sought three more months to complete the investigation, the court gave only one and a half months’ time to wind up the probe.
The court allowed the crime branch time until July 15 to complete the investigation. The crime branch moved the High Court after the last date for submission of the report ended on May 30.
The prosecution argued that the investigation was incomplete as it needed more time to conduct a probe into the change in hash value of the memory card containing the video clippings of the survivor taken after she was abducted and abused inside a moving vehicle on February 17, 2017.
The crime branch said it had to peruse vast digital evidence in connection with the case.
The 8th accused actor Dileep had opposed the prosecution plea seeking more time.
Dileep is also an accused in the case related to conspiring to harm police officials.
