Kochi: Congress made a laughing stock of itself as its protest against fuel price rice against the centre turned out to be damp squib at Vyttila in Kochi on Monday.
The protest was organized by blocking traffic through the junction for more than an hour, said those including Joju who turned against the protest. Instead of bashing the BJP, the Congress ended up fighting against actor Joju George for picking up an argument with the Congress workers for blocking traffic and creating hardship for the people media reports said.
Joju, who was passing through another road, stopped his car and went near the protesters and called them out for such a method of protest by blockading a major junction in a metro city. He said this was not the way to protest against fuel price hike, the reports said. Angered over this, a few Congressmen allegedly smashed the rear windscreen of his luxury car. Meanwhile, women Congress workers accused Joju of abusing them in an inebriated condition.
But a medical examination conducted on him showed that he was not intoxicated. Maradu police is inquiring into the complaint filed by both Congress workers and the actor.
