Kochi: Actor Siddique resigned as General Secretary of actors’ outfit AMMA following sexual allegations against him by actor Revathy Sampath a few years back.
Siddique tendered his resignation to AMMA president Mohanlal by email.Siddique said it was not proper to continue in the position in the wake of allegations.
Siddique befriended her through social media and offered her a break in 2016 when she was a student.She said that Siddique invited her to Nila Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram for the preview of a film “Sughamaayirikkatte”.She said she went to the theater with her parents. Later, he asked her to meet him at Mascot Hotel for an audition. During this time he sought inappropriate favours from her to get a role in the film in which Siddique’s son Shaheen was doing the lead role. She said she escaped from the hotel and told the world in 2019.
Revathy said she told many of her colleagues about it but no one supported her. However, Revathy said she was not planning to take any legal action in this regard.
Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has remained in the middle of controversies for sidelining veteran actor Tilakan and others.
