Azad wants to work for peace in J & K

Kochi: Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that Jammu and Kashmir has little chance of getting special status back.

He said some parties were “misleading people” by offering false promises of fetching back the Special Status which was scrapped by the Parliament three years back.

Addressing a public meeting in Baramulla in North Kashmir, Azad said he would not mislead people by giving false promises and instead work for establishing peace and harmony.

Stating that he was not going to keep people in dark and would prefer to strengthen statehood.

It needs two thirds majority in the Parliament to restore the special status. Azad said instead of falling prey to the false promises of parties the people should support in creating peace and harmony and create jobs through legislation once statehood becomes functional.

The state government when formed has the power to create jobs and protect land ownership without Parliament approval.

He said thousands have already been killed and lakhs orphaned in Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad said he would make more details about his party soon.
