Bhasurangan, son arrested

Kochi: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) arrested expelled CPI leader N Bhasurangan and son Akhil in connection with Rs 101 crore irregularities in Kandala Cooperative Bank near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, media reports said.
They were arrested at the end of ten hours of questioning after they failed to appear before the ED at Kochi on November 17, the reports said.
They will be produced before the court tomorrow.
Earlier the ED had seized documents from the bank and Bhasurangan’s house.
Akhil was arrested in connection with the deposits in his name, source of income in short duration, business growth among others.
Bhasurangan was president of Kandala Service Cooperative Bank for three decades. The cooperative department had reportedly detected financial irregularities worth Rs 101 crore in the bank.
He was expelled from the CPI following the Enforcement Directorate conducting raid in the bank and his residence.
