LDF continuous its winning streak in Mattanur even after 25 years in Power. Cong doubles its tally

Kochi: LDF continued to maintain its supremacy by winning Mattannur municipality polls in communists stronghold of Kannur in North Kerala today.

Out of the 35 wards, the CPM-led LDF won 21 seats retaining power in the newly elevated Municipality.

The Congress-led UDF won 14 seats which was seven more compared to the last election when it had got just 7. The LDF has ruled the local body for the past quarter century.

Top LDF leaders had campaigned in the polls in the municipality. The BJP has not got a single seat in the election.

The polling percentage was 84.61. There are 38,811 voters out of which 32,837 exercised their franchise. The polling percentage in the last election in 2017 was 82.91.
LDF had been in power in Mattanur since 1997.
