Crisis in Bengal

Kochi: West Bengal is facing an unprecedented crisis as the outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not willing to resign even after losing badly to the BJP.
This has led to breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state forcing the Governor to invoke President rule.
The new BJP government was likely to take oath on Saturday after registering a landslide victory by winning in 207 seats against 80 won by All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) founded by Mamata in 1998 after quitting Congress.
The 71-year-old Mamata Banerjee is credited with ending the 34-year-old Left rule in West Bengal to become the 8th Chief Minister from 2011. She was a Union Minister on a few occasions.
