Kochi: The Dalit research student fighting against sexual harassment finally emerge victorious as the Nano Science department chief Nandakumar Kalarickal of the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, has been removed from the post, media reports said.
The female dalit researcher gets justice on the ninth day of her strike seeking action against Nandakumar. The action seems to be the result of the government’s intervention in the matter. The Higher Education minister R Bindu was in touch with the University as part of ending the issue before it went out of hands, the reports said.
Following this Syndicate had met to take a decision on the matter. Vice-Chancellor Sabu Thomas has taken over the charge of the Nano Science department head. The University had given assurance to Deepa to look into the matter. But she was adamant and she was not willing to end her strike until nothing short of removal of Nandakumar from the post for her to return back to the institution, the reports said.
