Kochi: The NIA court has sent five leaders of the banned Popular Front of India to three days custodial interrogation. Karamana Ashraf Moulavi, Abdul Sattar, Yahya Koya Thangal, K Mohammad Ali and C T Sulaiman are those sent to NIA custody.

The investigating team prayed for their custody based on the information seized from their social media accounts. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court flayed the state government on the matter of attachment of properties of those arrested during the raids conducted in the state in Septembers leading to large scale violence unleashed by the outfit.

The court has given time until November 7 to submit a detailed report on the matter. The bail applications of those arrested pending before the lower court should be reported to the high court. The amount to be deducted from each accused should be specified in the report.

The NIA raided the PFI centres arresting over 100 top leaders and functionaries  in 10 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu a few weeks back.

The NIA carried out the raids backed by  Enforcement Directorate (ED) and state police following which the outfit called a hartal in Kerala to protest against the raids and arrests.
