Kochi: India defeated South Africa by seven wickets to level the 3 match ODI series 1-1 at Ranchi today. South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. They made a strong 278 for 7 with R Hendricks hitting 74 and A Markram 79.
Mohammad Siraj was the most successful bowler for India taking three wickets in 10 overs concedings only 3.80 runs per over. Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmad, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur claimed one wicket each. Shardul was the most expensive bowler as he gave 7.20 runs per over.
Batting second India made 282 losing just three wickets in 45.5 overs. Vice Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten with 113 while Ishan Kishan missed his century by seven runs as he was out for 93.
Sanju Samson remained unbeaten with 30 runs. India captain Shikhar Dhawan could make only 13 and Shubhman Gill 28. For South Africa, Fortuin, Parnell, and Rabada took one wicket each.
