Kochi: Olympic run under the banner “Let’s Move and Celebrate” was organised by Idukki District Olympics Association in connection with the International Olympics day at Thodupuzha on Sunday.
The event was organised with the support of Idukki District Sports Council and other sports organizations.The mass run was flagged off by sub collector Dr Arun S Nair at Brahmin’s junction.
District sports council president Romeo Sebastian addressed the participants and lighted the replica of the olympics torch. The run culminated at Thodupuzha Soccer School (TSS) Vengalloor.
Idukki district olympic association office bearers and TSS office bearers welcomed the participants.Idukki hockey association president Jimmy Mattathupara received the torch. A public meeting was held at which Arun Nair delivered an Olympic Day message and extended wishes to the contingent from the country taking part in the Olympics in Paris.
TSS Director P A Saleem Kutty spoke. Sharath U Nair, N Raveendran, Baby Varghese, P I Rafeeq, Manoj Kokkad, Mohammad Basheer, Shasheedharan, Mini Augustine, Reejo Domy, Babu Antony of different sports associations spoke.Smitha hospital, Thodupuzha, arranged an emergency medical team.
The District Hockey and handball association oraganised events.The programme culminated at Idukki Aquatic Association.
