Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived for the G20 Summit in Rome where he held talks with different leaders of the European Union on Friday. The discussions were held on topics including strengthening of ties between India and EU, trade, culture and environment.
He held talks with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. They discussed India-EU cooperation, trade and investment and economic cooperation among others.
The Ministry of External Affairs earlier said in a statement that Prime Minister Modi was received by senior officials of the Government of Italy and Ambassador of India in Italy, media reports said. He is likely to visit Vatican City and call on Pope Francis and meet Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Modi will be visiting Rome and the Vatican City from October 29-31 at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. Later, he will travel to Glasgow, in UK, from November 1-2 at the invitation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In UK Modi will participate at the COP26 summit, where he will hold several bilateral meetings apart from working towards a “balanced outcome” in the climate talks.
