Kochi: India clinched the T20 series against South Africa 2-0 beating the Proteas by 16 runs in the at the Barsapara stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
The visitors won the toss and sent India to bat first. India openers played a responsible innings and laid a strong foundation to make the job easy for the remaining batters.
K L Rahul hit 57 and captain Rohit Sharma 43. Former skipper Virat Kohli seems to have regained his form as he hit a glorious 49 and remained unbeaten. Suryakumar Yadav was most ferocious hitting 61 before being run out due to misjudgement. India made 237 for three in 20 overs.
Only Maharaj took two wickets for South Africa. Chasing the target of 238, the Proteas could make only 221 losing just three wickets in 20 overs. D Miller he 106 and remained not out while Q de Kock gave the much needed support and made an unbeaten 62. Markaram made 33.
Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets giving 62 runs in four overs. Axar Patel took one for 53. The third and final match will be played on October 4 in Indore.
