Blow to ED on National Herald case

Kochi: A Delhi court on Friday refused to issue notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi, and others in the alleged National Herald money laundering case, media reports said.
The court directed the Directorate of
Enforcement (ED) to produce sufficient documents in support of the charges.
The ED prayed to the court to issue notices to the accused for hearing them before filing of chargesheet.
However, the Court said that it must get convinced before issuing such notices. The matter has been listed for next hearing on May 2.
The National Herald case Politician Subramanian Swamy had filed a against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others accusing them of criminal misappropriation.
As per the complaint filed in the court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Associated Journals Limited (AJL) took an interest-free loan
from Indian National Congress amounting ₹90.25 crore which was not repaid.
A closely held company, Young Indian, was incorporated in November 2010 with a paid up capital of 5 Lakh. Young Indian acquired almost all the shareholding of AJL and all its properties alleged to be worth ₹5,000 crore.
