Kochi: Virat Kohli became the first Indian Captain to win two tests in Africa when India thrashed the Proteas by 113 runs in Centurion in South Africa today.
Kohli also became the first Asian to win a test in Centurion, media reports said.
Rahul Dravid and M S Dhoni have won one test each in South Africa.
India won the match in four days despite the second day being washed out, the reports said. With this India has taken 1-0 lead in the 3-0 series.
India selected to bat after winning the toss and posted a huge score of 327 with the help of the century made by K L Rahul who was selected man of the match.
Even as India could make only 174 in the second innings, the total runs scored by India was tough target for the hosts as they could not cross 197 runs in the first innings and 191 in the second.
Mohammad Shami took 8 wickets, Bumrah took five, Mohammad Siraj three and Shardul Thakur and R Ashwin two each in two innings.
This is India’s fourth test win out of the 21 test played in South Africa since India started playing with it since 1992.
