Kochi: World’s first Omicron death has been reported in the UK even as the cases were increasing rapidly with 40 percent of the Covid cases are infected with Omicron variant, media reports quoting British premier Boris Johnson said.
Even as the first case was reported in South Africa, the first death has been reported in the UK, the reports said.
People are queuing up in front of the vaccination centers to get a booster jab to keep them protected from the virus and enable the government to accomplish its mission to immunize all above 18 with the third one by the end of December, the reports said.
The infection is spreading rapidly and the infection doubles every two to three days.
China has reported a large number of cases in Zhejiang province.
Meanwhile, India is yet to make a decision on administering a third vaccine while the WHO has not its position clear on it.
The aim of the center is to complete its mission of giving a second dose at the earliest.
