Vellappally flats Muslim League

Kochi: Vellappally Natesan chief of the SNDP Yogam representing the Ezhava community warned Muslim League not to provoke the majority community through its actions.
In his article in SNDP mouthpiece Yoganadam, Natesan condemned League protests against him in places like Idukki.
Natesan said he will not be intimidated by street abuses, threats, or the burning of his effigies.
He accused Muslim League of “targeting him on the streets for strongly opposing the religious discrimination and communalism of the organization called the Muslim League…”
He reiterated that the majority community will never forget the Malabar Rebellion of 1921 and the 2003 Marad Riots.
Vellappally warned that the league’s ambitions and divisive politics pose a continuous threat to the state’s secular fabric.
Accusing the League of pursuing an extreme anti-Hindu agenda, Natesan, alleged that League’s political actions could provoke similar incidents.
He further alleged that the IUML shields extremists and targets those who oppose its communal influence.
The Muslim League raised provocative slogans against Natesan and Nair Service Society (NSS) chief Sukumaran Nair during a march organised in Idukki to celebrate UDF victory in recent assembly polls.
Meanwhile, rallies were taken out against Muslim League in places like Pala where Muslim League chief’s effigy was torched.
On the other hand the Muslim League condemned objectionable slogans and suspended the Idukki district committee.
