“3 of family commit suicide”

Kochi: Three members of a family from Kerala committed suicide due to financial crisis in Pimpri in Pune, media reports said.
The deceased were Vinod Pillai, 50, Sirja Pillai, 45, and their 19-year-old daughter Poornima, 19, NDTV reported.
As their acquaintances failed to contact them over phone, they alerted police who reached the spot and rushed the three to hospital where they died without responding to treatment.
Vinod had studied Computer Science at IIM Ahmedabad, while Sirja worked as a coordinator at a school.
Police recovered a suicide note along with a container of sodium nitrate believed to bought online.
Police suspect the fumes released from burning of the chemical in a closed room could have led to the deaths.
The family was overburdened with heavy debt forcing them to sell their house three years back and were staying in a rented house.
