Kochi: CPM leaders Madhu Mullassery, son Mithun, daughter Mathu joined BJP in Kerala, media reports said.
CPM had expelled Madhu, who was its Mangalapuram area secretary Madhu Mullassery from the party’s primary membership accusing him of involvement in anti party activities.
Mithun was expelled by the DYFI from the organisation for Madhu’s alleged rebellion.
Madhu’s daughter joined BJP in Vaikom in Kottayam where she is living.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi and former minister V Muralidharan had visited Madhu’s house to invite him to BJP.
Madhu was given party membership by state president K Surendran. BJP district president V V Rajesh, who was in touch with Madhu ever since Madhu started distancing him from the CPM, was also present.
Madhu’s entry will help BJP immensely in the coming local body election. Left front’s influence is strong in Mangalapuram where the BJP has been trying hard to get a foothold. CPM is in power in six panchayats and one block panchayat under Mangalapuram area committee, the reports said.
