SC rejects Antony Raju’s plea

Kochi: Convicted for evidence tampering, former Kerala Minister advocate Antony Raju’s plea seeking relief was rejected by the Supreme Court on Monday.
According to LiveLaw.In the Apex Court rejected Raju’s plea seeking suspension of his conviction in the evidence tampering case dating back to 1990.
A division bench of the Court rejected his plea challenging the Kerala High Court’s judgment refusing to suspend his conviction.
A trial court in Thiruvananthapuram in January 2026 convicted Raju of offences under Sections 120B, 420, 201, 193 and 217 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, and sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment in the case of 1990, when Raju helped his Australian client convicted in a narcotics case escape by tampering vital evidence against the drug smuggler.
