Kochi: The CBI today collected evidence at Kerala Chief Minister’s official residence Cliff House at Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the alleged sexual abuse case against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy of Congress.
The CBI special team reached the place and
carried out the raid after taking prior permission from the state government.
The complainant came in an autorickshaw to the place to help the central agency collect evidence.
The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in the US for medical treatment.
The evidence collection is taking place at a time when the Thrikkakara by election is about a month away and Congress is believed to have an edge in the seat.
The investigation started at about 10 am and continued until 3.30 pm.
Media were not allowed to enter the premises.
The investigation is based on a complaint lodged by the woman in 2013 accusing some political leaders of abusing her in 2012 during the Congress-led UDF rule. The Crime Branch failed to crack the case following which the LDF government handed over the case to the CBI.
Yesterday, the CBI conducted a similar exercise at Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram where the woman accused A P Abdullakutty, BJP, National vice president of abusing her. Abdullahkutty was in the Congress then.
The other investigation was held at the Government guest house at Alappuzha where she had accused the former minister Adoor Prakash of abusing her.
CBI also collected evidence from the MLA hostel in connection with allegations against Hibi Eden, MP, who was an MLA then.
Other Congress leaders facing charge are former Union Minister K C Venugopal and former state minister A P Anil Kumar of Congress.
A total of six cases were registered on the basis of the allegations made by her.
Separate teams have been formed to conduct the probe.
The case pertains to Solar panel scam in which a company, Team Solar allegedly duped several people by collecting investment from them using two women.
The complainant is one of them appointed by Team Solar to establish political acquaintance to get contracts for setting up solar projects. Five persons were arrested in the case.
