Kochi: K P Yohannan, (Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan), founding Metropolitan Bishop of Believers Eastern Church, passed away at Dallas in the US today, media reports said.
He succumbed to serious injuries suffered in a road accident during his morning walk on Tuesday in Texas. He reached the US a few days ago.
Yohanan was the founder and president of GFA World, earlier known as Gospel for Asia. Yohannan has penned 200 books on Christian living and missions. Born into a St Thomas Syrian Christian family in 1950 in Kerala, Yohanan became a follower of Jesus at the age of eight. At 16 he joined the Operation Mobilization (OM), an evangelical missions movement.
Yohannan went to the United States in 1974 for theological studies at Criswell College in Dallas, Texas.He graduated with a B.A. in Biblical Studies.Yohannan is married to a German Gisela.and have two children.
