Kochi: The LDF government has categorically said that it cannot guarantee salary to KSRTC employees and that it was the responsibility of the management.
The KSRTC should find its own ways to generate funds to pay salary, Finance Minister Balagopal told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
Supporting Transport Minister Antony Raju’s statement on these lines, Balagopal said what Raju said was the government’s collective stand on the matter.
Saying that the matter was a serious issue to be discussed with all stakeholders, Balagopal said that the government’s support to KSRTC will continue.
He said there even in toll plazas there was an outstanding liability of Rs 30 crore.
Various trade unions are engaged in holding talks to settle the matter and avoid strike.
About two years back, the total outstanding financial liability was over Rs 3,430 crore.
Out of this, a lion share of Rs 3,043 crore was towards a consortium of major banks.
The remaining dues is Rs 119.66 crore taken for paying pension, Rs 54.40 crore for diesel dues, Rs 62 crore for investment related, Rs 48.50 crore for spare parts, Rs 13.01 crore for contractors, Rs 14.77 crore for provident fund. There are other pending dues under different heads.
