Kochi: The Kerala Story on alleged radicalistion of gullible girls in the state has gained tremendous public attention due to political parties objecting to its telecast by national broadcaster Doordarshan.
Though the film made some impact in the Northern part of the country, it did not make any change among voters’ attitude during Karnataka assembly elections which elected a Congress government.
Like Karnataka, it is hardly going to have any impact in the communists ruled Kerala where the picture has been already viewed by many through different sources, media reports said.
The Kerala High Court also rejected a plea seeking to prevent its broadcast.
Protests by parties including the Congress and the Left against the broadcast amidst elections has given more popularity to the film which has become a hot topic of discussion.
The Congress leaders have moved the Election Commission describing the move as a part to divide the society on Communal lines.
The Sudipto Sen directed film starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani and Sonia Balani was released in May last year. The Kerala High Court refused to stay the film’s release in 2023.
Kerala has witnessed many militant attacks including chopping of palm of a faculty Joseph of Newman College, Thodupuzha.
Many IS sympathizers from Kerala were killed in places like Syria and Afghanistan.
