Kochi: An oil tanker with 24 crew on board came under attack while sailing towards the port of Duqm in Oman, media reports said.
The vessel sent a distress message that the vessel MARIVEX was on fire and at risk of sinking.
The incident comes against the backdrop of mounting security concerns across West Asia after Iran struck Israel as a retribution to Israel attacking many areas of Lebanon after Hezbollah targeted Tel Aviv.
According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, all 24 Indian crew members are safe. The ministry’s Shipping Division, said authorities received information about the incident at around 1:30 pm.
