Kochi: The Railways is planning to extend important trains terminating at Bengaluru to Mysuru to decongest the Silicon Valley city station and increase efficiency, media reports said.It has launched a survey for laying a four line track between Bengaluru and Mysuru to make traffic in the key sector smooth and uninterrupted.
Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna discussed the matter at a meeting called to discuss implementation of Railway projects in the State and Sub-Urban Rail Project at Vidhana Soudha the other day.Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development M B Patil also attended. Somanna, who is on a Karnataka tour, is at Mysuru today to inspect railway development.
His trip to the state will conclude tomorrow.Stagnation of KSR Bengaluru is causing delay in operation of incoming trains. Many trains are detained at suburban stations in Bengaluru for want of platforms in KSR Bengaluru forcing railways to take steps to address the issues.Extension of more trains to Mysuru would help in reducing waiting time for passengers to visit the royal city. Mysuru attracts large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
