Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated key strategic projects worth Rs 4,000 crore to Cochin Shipyard Ltd on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion at Wellington Island, Modi said it was a fortunate moment to become part of an initiative of the centre for the development of Kerala.
The projects including an International Ship Repair Facility, World’s First Stepped Dry Dock, IOC Import Terminal will increase features of the shipyard manifold , he said at the function at Wellington Island.
The new facilities are the milestones of the nation’s development. The world’s first stepped dry dock was the country’s pride.
There was tremendous growth in the shipping sector in the last one decade, he said, apparently referring to the decade-long BJP rule.
Due to the center’s policies, port sector investment increased. There is no waiting for cargo ships. Employment opportunities increased. Cargo movement speed increased. New dry dock is a prestige of the country.
Avoid depending on other countries for repair.
