Guv, CM fight leads to political crises

Kochi: Kerala is witnessing an unprecedented political crises following the Governor Arif Mohammad Khan falling out with the Left government on different issues including his security.

The state is looking forward to know more about the letters the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had written to the Governor who is going to bring them before public domain.

But the government seems to be unmoved with the entire front rallying behind the Chief Minister.

Today CPM’s close ally CPI state chief Kanam Rajendran mocked the Governor by saying that they were not ‘love letters’.

It all started with the appointment of Chief Minister’s personal secretary’s wife in Kannur University despite getting poor marks. The appointment was suspended by the Governor and the Kerala High Court following complaints.

Governor is also miffed over the LDF government deciding to bypass him over managing the universities in the state and a bill in this regard has been cleared by the state Assembly and is waiting for Governor’s nod.

Khan said that he is not a rubber stamp and that he would not clear bills without perusing their merits.

Khan said that the government is there to protect the law and not break it.

Another allegation made by the Governor
against the Chief Minister is the failure of police to book those who posed security threat to him during the History Congress in Kannur University in December 2019.

He blamed the Chief Minister, holding Home portfolio, for not registering case. Governor claims that his life was at stake when the protestors targeted him for his support to the Citizens Ammendment Act (CAA) brought by the centre.

Interestingly, these developments have smothered the Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra passing through the state.
