NCP leader facing allegation of sexual assault was on the verge of committing suicide, says minister.
Kochi: Forest Minister A K Saseendran of the NCP is upbeat as the Kerala chief minister and NCP party central leadership have given a clean chit to him on the controversial telephonic conversation allegedly suggesting a person to settle a sexual harassment issue involving his daughter and another party leader in Kollam.
Saseendran said that the chief minister is not in favour of his resignation and same is the stand of the party’s central leadership. State chief of the party P C Chacko held discussions with party chief Sharad Pawar in this regard.
The CPM and the LDF have already given clean chit to the minister.
Saseendran claims that the phone conversation and subsequent controversy was part of a game plan of leaders who were out to tarnish his image. He said he had called up the father of the girl in a bid to find a solution to the issue as party leaders had persuaded him to intervene in the matter or else the accused, who was in acute depression, was on the verge of ending his life.
Meanwhile, the victim expressed shock over the Chief Minister not acting against his cabinet colleague minister for his telephonic talk over a serious issue while the government was engaged in campaigns over the safety and dignity of women. She said that the message was clear that women would continue to suffer in the state and similar cases would continue to occur in future. She said that she would move against the minister legally.
