Kochi: Noted film director and mentor of French film industry, Jean-Luc Godard, 91, died on Tuesday, media reports said.
The Franco-Swiss film personality introduced to the French film industry new technology of film making in the 1960s.
Godard, who is popular for classics such as “Breathless” and “Contempt”, broke with the established conventions of French cinema.
He had a key role in the 1950s French art film movement French New Wave (French: La Nouvelle Vague).
The movement rejected traditional filmmaking conventions in favor of experimentation and a spirit of iconoclasm.
